SAN DIEGO – San Diego State lacrosse is gearing up for its final road game of the regular season, heading to Tempe, Ariz. to take on Arizona State on Saturday. The game will get underway at noon and can be streamed on ESPN+.
The Aztecs enter this weekend’s contest with a 5-9 overall record and 0-3 in the Big 12, most recently coming off a 19-15 loss to Cincinnati last Saturday.
Second in the Big 12 standings, Arizona State holds a 9-6 record and is 2-1 in conference play. Last time out, the Sun Devils took down UC Davis 20-11 on the road.
This will be the ninth meeting between the two programs, with Arizona State leading the all-time series 5-3. The Sun Devils took the last contest 17-9 in 2024, and the Aztecs earned their last series win in 2023 by a score of 15-12.
Saturday’s matchup is primed to be a battle between two of the most efficient offenses in the Big 12. The Aztecs lead the league in shot percentage (.437) while the Sun Devils are second in goals per game (15.13) and San Diego State ranks third (14.50).
Redshirt freshman Bella Tan and sophomore Frankie Garcia continue to fuel the Scarlet and Black offense. With two games still to play, Tan is tied for the sixth most goals by an Aztec in a single season with 39, sharing the spot with teammate Sara Toner who recorded the same number in 2024. Garcia comes in at eighth with 38, while also leading the team in assists with 15 on the season.
The Sun Devils are led by Teagan Ng and Jordyn Behar. Ng leads the league in goals per game, averaging 3.93 for a total of 59 through 15 games played while Behar tops the conference in points (5.47) and assists (3.47) per game.
The Aztecs continue to lead the Big 12 in ground balls per game, picking up an average of 20.50 per outing, which ranks third nationally. Midfielder Kate Christos tops the stat sheet with 33 through 14 games.
San Diego State’s offense will face Arizona State’s Katie Vahle in the goal, who ranks second in the conference in saves per game, averaging 9.27.
Following Saturday’s action, the Aztecs will return to The Mesa for their regular season finale, welcoming UC Davis to Aztec Field for the second time this season. Opening draw is set for noon on April 26, following senior day recognitions.
