Narita Tied for Fifth Through One Round at MW Championship

Narita shot an even par 72. She was three-under-par through 12 holes before finishing +2 over her final six holes. Her four birdies were a team-high and tied for the fourth most on the day. Three of her four birdies came on par fives.

RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. – The San Diego State women’s golf team finished the first day of the Mountain West Championship at the Mission Hills Country Club Tuesday. Through 18 holes, they are led by Ema Narita, who shot an even par 72 and is tied for fifth place.

As a team, the Aztecs shot a 16-over-par 304 and are in ninth place.

Narita was three-under-par through 12 holes before finishing +2 over her final six holes. Her four birdies were a team-high and tied for the fourth most on the day. Three of her four birdies came on par fives.

Stephanie Barbaglia carded a four-over-par 76. She was an even par 36 on the front nine before shooting a 40 on the back nine. She sits in 27th place

Kylie Phi and Maya Benita are tied for 35th after carding six-over-par 78s in the opening round.

Emilia Omander finished outside the scoring for the Aztecs with an 82.

Nevada is in the lead after one round with an even par 288 while San Jose State’s Lucia Lopez Ortega is the clubhouse leader after firing a three-under-par 69.

Stephanie Barbaglia averaged 2.75 strokes on par threes, tied for the second best in the field.
