SAN DIEGO – San Diego State men’s tennis is set for its final road trip of the regular season, heading to Albuquerque, N.M. to face New Mexico on April 11 at noon. Following Friday’s contest, the Aztecs will make their way to Colorado to take on Air Force in a 9 a.m. Sunday matchup.
The Aztecs enter the weekend with an 8-10 overall record and 1-2 in the Mountain West, most recently falling 4-1 to Boise State on Sunday. The Scarlet and Black secured the doubles point for the third consecutive match, taking down the 42nd-ranked Broncos on courts one and three. Alexander Mandma and Denis Maijorov defeated No. 75 Jett Middleton/Carson Baker 6-4 on the top court while Eugenio Gonzalez Fitzmaurice and Mathieu Josserand earned a 6-4 win over John Chin/Dylan Jaen on court three. The Aztecs were unable to secure a point in singles competition, coming up short 4-1 to the Broncos, who rank first in the conference standings.
The Lobos are 10-7 on the season and 1-1 in conference play, coming off back-to-back 4-3 losses to Air Force and Denver on the road.
The Falcons hold a 10-8 overall record and 1-1 in the league, having won their two most recent matchups 4-3 against Omaha and New Mexico.
Last season, the Aztecs captured wins over both Air Force and New Mexico, taking down the Falcons 5-2 and the Lobos 4-3.
Following Sunday’s action, San Diego State will return to the Aztec Tennis Center on April 19 for its final regular season match, facing Nevada at noon.
