SAN DIEGO – San Diego State men’s tennis continues its month-long home stand on Friday, kicking off day one of the San Diego Spring Invitational – Ed Collins Classic with a 10 a.m. matchup against Utah at the Aztec Tennis Center.
Co-hosted by the University of San Diego, the tournament will feature Texas Tech, Tulane, Old Dominion, Utah, UC San Diego and UC Santa Barbara. Teams ranked in the top 50 of this week’s ITA national team rankings include No. 7 San Diego and No. 45 UC Santa Barbara.
Following the morning contest, Tulane and UC Santa Barbara will face off at 1:30 p.m.

Tournament Schedule
The Aztecs are 5-3 with a 4-1 home record. Last time out, the Scarlet and Black earned back-to-back wins over Cal Poly (4-1) and Pomona-Pitzer (5-2) on Feb. 26 and 27. The Aztecs are two matches into a ten-match home stand, going through April 6.
Senior Mathieu Josserand has been a key player for San Diego State with a 5-2 singles record, primarily playing in the No. 3 and 4 spots. Paired up with fellow senior Alexander Mandma in doubles, the duo is 5-3 on court one.
The Utes enter the weekend 8-4 overall, currently 55th in this week’s ITA rankings, and having won their most recent match 4-3 against Denver. They are led by junior Berk Bugarikj, who has a 5-3 record playing in the top spot. In doubles, Dante Teramo and Reid Jarvis hold a 6-3 record on court one.
Last year, San Diego State went 2-1 in the Spring Invitational, falling to No. 22 Arizona State 4-1 on the opening day, followed by a 4-2 victory over Tulane and 4-1 over Texas Tech.
