SAN DIEGO – San Diego State men’s tennis continues its month-long home stand this week, welcoming Gonzaga and Idaho to the Aztec Tennis Center on Wednesday and Friday. The Scarlet and Black will face the Zags at 2 p.m. on Wednesday before taking on the Vandals in a 10 a.m. Friday morning contest.

After hosting the San Diego Spring Invitational last weekend, the Aztecs are 6-5 (0-1 Mountain West) with a 5-4 home record. Last time out, San Diego State fell 4-2 to Texas Tech on the final day of the invitational. The Aztecs went 1-2 on the weekend, earning a 4-2 win over Tulane after coming up short 4-2 against Utah on the opening day.
Gonzaga enters the match with a 7-5 overall record (0-0 WCC). The Zags most recently picked up a 4-2 win at UC San Diego on Sunday. They are led by Giovanni Branchetti in the top spot in singles. Kai-Luca Ampaw and Jay Fairclough have recorded the most wins for Gonzaga with seven each. Branchetti and Fairclough lead the team in doubles with a 6-2 record on the top court.
Also 7-5 on the season, Idaho (2-0 Big Sky) is coming off a three-game winning streak, most recently shutting out Portland State 7-0. The Vandals are led by Francisco Gay who primarily plays on court one in both singles and doubles, alongside Yu-Shun Li.
