FEDERAL WAY, Wash. – A trio of San Diego State divers competed in the platform event on Tuesday at the 2025 NCAA Zone E Diving Championships inside Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatics Center.
Aztec senior Valentina Lopez Arevalo and sophomore Alina Skrocki advanced to the finals where they placed 14th and 17th, respectively.
Lopez Arevalo was slotted 11th after the preliminaries with a score of 228.80 but slipped three spots in the standings to finish with a combined 461.55 points.
Likewise, Skrocki ranked 15th following the early session with 224.20 points but dropped two places in the finals to end the day with an aggregate score of 417.85.
The Aztec delegation also featured Summer Westmoreland (180.70), who finished 32nd in the preliminaries.
San Diego State’s excursion to the NCAA Zone E Diving Championships concludes on Wednesday with the 1-meter springboard event. The Aztecs' Lopez Arevalo, Skrocki and Westmoreland and Skrocki will begin the day with preliminary action at 11:30 a.m. PT to be followed by the finals at approximately 3 p.m. PT. A link to live results via DiveMeets will be available on GoAztecs.com.
The top eight divers will secure a spot at next week’s NCAA Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships, March 19-22, to be held at the same venue in suburban Seattle.
Lopez Arevalo, who already punched her ticket to the national meet with a sixth-place zone finish in the 3-meter event on Monday, needs at least a 12th-place result in Wednesday's competition to clinch another NCAA berth as a multiple qualifier.
