SAN DIEGO – After defeating No. 21/21 Nevada 79-74 in its regular-season finale at home on Saturday night, San Diego State has earned the fifth seed at next week's 2018 Mountain West Championship.

The Aztecs (19-10, 11-7 MW) will open the tournament against the No. 4 seed Fresno State in the quarterfinals on Thursday, March 8, beginning at 2:30 p.m. PT inside the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nev.

The SDSU-Fresno State contest will be the second of four quarterfinal matchups on Thursday. All four will air live on CBS Sports Network.

The Aztecs will be looking to avenge a pair of regular-season defeats to the Bulldogs after dropping a 77-73 decision at Steve Fisher Court on Jan. 17, followed by a 79-61 setback at Save Mart Center in Fresno on Feb. 6.

San Diego State will square off against Fresno State at the MW tournament for just the second time ever after falling by a 68-63 count in the 2016 championship final.

Should the Aztecs beat the Bulldogs, they would advance to the first semifinal game on Friday, March 9, starting at 6 p.m. PT, with CBS Sports Network once again televising the action.
