Football Agrees to Home-and-Home Series with Brigham Young

Football Future Schedules

San Diego State and Brigham Young have agreed to a football home-and-home series beginning in 2019, the two schools announced Thursday.

The Aztecs and Cougars kick off the series Nov. 30, 2019 in San Diego. The return game, meanwhile, is slated for Nov. 14, 2020 in Provo, Utah.

The 2019 game gives SDSU four non-conference contests that season - Aug. 31 vs. Weber State, Sept. 7 at UCLA, Sept. 28 at Eastern Michigan and Nov. 30 vs. BYU. The 2020 slate currently has San Diego State playing host to Sacramento State (Sept. 5) and UCLA (Sept. 19), and heading to Brigham Young on Nov. 14 in non-conference tilts.

The Aztecs, who already played home-and-home games with Oregon State in 2013-14 and California in 2015-16, also have scheduled home-and-home series with Arizona State and Stanford in 2017-18, UCLA and BYU in 2019-20, Arizona and Utah in 2021-22, and Arizona State again in 2027-28.

SDSU and Brigham Young have not met in a regular-season game since both were members of the Mountain West in 2010. The two schools last played each other in the 2012 Poinsettia Bowl at Qualcomm Stadium where the Cougars came out on top by a 23-6 score.

Last year, BYU won its final five games en route to a 9-4 season, culminating with a 24-21 win over Wyoming in the Poinsettia Bowl.

In 2016, San Diego State defeated Wyoming, 27-24, in the Mountain West Championship for its second straight league title and downed Houston, 34-10, in the Las Vegas Bowl to finish 11-3, culminating in a No. 25 ranking in both the AP Top 25 poll and the Amway Coaches Poll. It is just the second time that the Aztecs have been ranked in the final AP poll in program history (also 1977). The 11 wins tied a school single-season record as SDSU became the first team in program history with back-to-back 11-win campaigns.

San Diego State is accepting new account deposits on 2017 season tickets through the Aztec Ticket Office, while current season-ticket holders can also renew their tickets for the 2017 campaign. Fans can purchase tickets through, over the phone by calling (619) 283-7378, or by visiting Qualcomm Stadium's Window E between 9 a.m. PT and 5 p.m. PT.

SDSU's non-conference home schedule next year includes games against UC Davis (Sept. 2), Stanford (Sept. 16) and Northern Illinois (Sept. 30). The Aztecs will also play host to Boise State, Fresno State, New Mexico and Nevada in conference games at a date to be determined.
