SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State football team, which had to cancel its San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl week trip to the zoo last December, will have its opportunity to visit the world famous attraction this Friday.

The event was originally scheduled for Dec. 20, three days before the Aztecs defeated Navy 35-14 in the bowl game, but it was postponed due to heavy rains in the San Diego area.

All members of the current team, head coach Rocky Long and a majority of the Aztec coaching staff are scheduled to arrive at the zoo at approximately 2 p.m. PT on Friday. San Diego State student-athletes and coaches will be treated to a behind the scenes tour of the facility.

The Aztecs are coming off a successful season in which they finished 9-4 and made their first postseason appearance since 1998. SDSU returns 14 starters from a team that claimed the school's first bowl title since 1969. Seven players on offense, five on defense and both kickers from 2010, including first team all-conference honorees linebacker Miles Burris, cornerback Leon McFadden, running back Ronnie Hillman and punter Brian Stahovich return.
