Aug. 11, 2010

SAN DIEGO - San Diego State senior wide receiver Vincent Brown (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.) is one of 51 candidates for the 2010 Biletnikoff Award, which is given annually to the nation's most outstanding college football wide receiver by the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation. Brown was one of 10 semifinalists for the same honor a year ago and is the first Aztec to be nominated for the award twice in his career.

The 6-0 wideout enters the upcoming season with 140 career catches for 1,758 yards and 13 touchdowns. In 2009, he had 45 receptions for 778 yards and six touchdowns before suffering a season-ending injury against Colorado State. Despite only playing seven outings, he was still tabbed a second-team all-conference selection.

Brown's other preseason honors so far in 2010 include being named preseason all-MWC for the second year in a row, being tabbed an honorable mention All-American by College Football Insiders and being rated both the sixth-best receiver in the country and the most dangerous deep threat in the MWC by Lindy's preseason magazine.

SDSU's all-time leading receiver J.R. Tolver (semifinalist) and teammate Kassim Osgood (preseason) are the only other Aztecs to ever be named to the Biletnikoff Award watch list, doing so in 2002.

The winner of the Biletnikoff Award will be announced on ESPN on The Home Depot ESPNU College Football Awards on Thursday, Dec. 9. The honor will be officially presented to the winner at a banquet on Feb. 11, 2011.

The Biletnikoff award dates back to 1994, and is named for Fred Biletnikoff, who was an All-America wideout at Florida State and is a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
