SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State men's tennis team will attempt to put its recent struggles behind them when they play host to No. 28 Fresno State on Thursday, March 4. First serve is set for 1:30 p.m. PT at the Aztec Tennis Center.
Led by senior Juan Gomez, the Aztecs (1-6) will be facing their sixth nationally ranked opponent this season. Gomez is 6-1 in singles this season and had won six straight to open the dual-match season, before suffering his first loss in the USC contest.
Despite its record, San Diego State has been involved in some close calls, dropping 4-3 decisions to No. 39 Texas Tech and UC Irvine and 5-2 decisions to 57th-ranked UNC-Wilmington and No. 6 UCLA.
Fresno State (8-5), however, is coming off a 6-1 home victory over UNLV which snapped a four-match losing streak. The last time these two teams met was on Feb. 27, 2009, in Fresno, when the Aztecs fell by a count of 6-1.
