Five nationally televised games, including a string of three straight, highlight the San Diego State women's basketball team's 2010 Mountain West Conference schedule, Aztec head coach Beth Burns announced Monday.

San Diego State begins its quest for a second consecutive MWC regular season title on Jan. 6, when it opens the conference slate at "The Pit" on the campus of the University of New Mexico. A year ago, the Aztecs posted their first win in Albuquerque in nearly 14 years by holding on to beat the then 23rd-ranked Lobos, 57-52.

"Opening at The Pit poses a great challenge for our team and sets the tone for the competition ahead in a league that I see getting four or five (NCAA) bids," said Burns, who enters the fifth year of her second stint on The Mesa. "Coming off what is the most competitive non-conference schedule SDSU has ever seen, night in and night out each MWC game will be critical for us in meeting our goals. We have great senior leadership and a lot of talented experience returning, so having this schedule in our hands just makes us more eager to get started."

SDSU plays its first home games of 2010 on Jan. 9 against Wyoming and on Jan. 13 against UNLV. Following a road date with TCU (Jan. 16), the Aztecs' match-up with Utah, which will feature two of the league's top teams, will be televised live by CBS College Sports from Viejas Arena on Jan. 20.

San Diego State heads to BYU on Jan. 23, before playing only one game the final week of January against Colorado State (Jan. 30) at home. The Aztecs finish out the first round of league play at Air Force on Feb. 3.

The team will have four of its first five contests of the second half of MWC action carried live on national television. SDSU's games with New Mexico (Feb. 6), TCU (Feb. 16) and Utah (Feb. 21) will each be shown live on The Mtn., while the Aztecs play at UNLV on Feb. 13 for their second CBS College Sports broadcast of 2010.

San Diego State finishes the 11th season of MWC play with home dates against BYU (Feb. 24) and Air Force (March 6) and a road outing at Colorado State (March 3).

The 2010 Conoco Mountain West Conference Championship will be held in Las Vegas, Nev., for the fourth straight year and the eighth time overall on March 9-13, at the Thomas & Mack Center.

The Aztecs' complete non-conference schedule will be released at a later date.

SDSU returns four starters from its 2008-09 squad that went 24-8 overall, advanced to the second round of the NCAA tournament and earned a share of the 2009 MWC regular season title.
