SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State football team will complete its first week of spring drills with a brief scrimmage Saturday morning at the SDSU practice facility.

The Aztecs will be on the field for various drills by 9 a.m., but the scrimmage, expected to consist of approximately 50 plays, will not begin until 10:30 a.m.

San Diego State has completed three practices and on Thursday worked out in full pads for the first time. The emphasis during the early portion of the spring has been on fundamentals.

The first week of practice has been highlighted by the return of all-Mountain West running back Lynell Hamilton from the ankle injury that forced him to redshirt during the 2004 season, and the squad has been strengthened by the arrival of six January enrollments, including two offensive linemen and 2004 high school signees quarterback Kevin Craft and receiver DeMarco Sampson.

Following Saturday's scrimmage, San Diego State will take two days off before returning to the practice field on Tuesday morning at 6:45. The second scrimmage of the spring will take place March 12 at Vista High School.

San Diego State will return to campus for a March 19 scrimmage and will conclude spring practice with the Red-Black game on March 26.
