FULLERTON, Calif. - The San Diego State softball team fell victim to No. 7 Cal State Fullerton, 9-0 and 2-1, at Titan Stadium today. The loss drops the Aztec's record to 26-18-1, while the Titans continue on a 26-game winning streak to 38-9.
The Aztecs fell behind early when Titan shortstop Amanda Hockett stepped to the plate with bases loaded and ripped her sixth homerun of the season, giving Cal State Fullerton a 4-0 lead. The Titans went on to score one more in the first and four in the fourth closing out the game 9-0 in the bottom of the fifth.
Senior Tiffany Goudy was credited with the Aztec's lone hit in the matchup. The Aztecs finished with no runs on one hit with no errors versus CS Fullerton's nine runs on eight hits and one error.
The second game seemed to start better for San Diego State when Goudy scored a run for the Aztecs off of a ground out by Sarah Hershman. SDSU kept the heavy-hitting Titans to three hits until the bottom of the seventh frame when with bases loaded freshman Bre DeSanta walked in the winning run.
Jessi Green fell to 8-5 with the first loss and DeSanta fell to 9-8 with the loss in game two.
The Aztecs will have one day at home before returning to Mountain West action with a doubleheader against UNLV. Games are scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m.
